First session editing
Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today was the first day of editing that we did as a group. It was a bit challenging because we couldn't all be in the same place at once due to the fact that we all had plans to do on that day. So, we worked around it and decided to collaborate through a text messaging group chat and though call. The editing software that we would be using was Cap Cut. We decided to use Cap Cut not only because it was free and available, but also because we it was easy to use and that benefited us being that none of us had much experience editing. After coming to this conclusion, we decided to get to work and start editing our clips together. We decided to start from the start of the movie and edit each clip as the plot progressed. We figured that this strategy would make the most sense compared to going through random clips, most likely getting confused, and then mix up clips and have something go wrong while editing. Starting with the title screen, we complied all of our clips that we planned to use for the title screens and edited them accordingly. After we had them edited and prepared to be put together, we inserted them in the correct order that we wanted them in. Being done with this we decided to choose the font that we wanted to use for the words that would be included on each title slide. Nathaniel made the great suggestion to use a comic sans font that looks as though it was cartoony. By doing this we figured it would allow the audience to develop an initial comedic feeling as being introduced to the movie and seeing cartoon-like letters. After doing this we had the title screens completely done and moved onto the rest of clips. Having completed that we decided to do the same thing to the Living room scene with the board game and the same to the conversation scene we had in the kitchen scene, as well as the same to the outdoor scenes. Though these scenes proved to be more difficult to edit due to how long they are and the way we had the camera set up when recording, making editing harder because we didn't want to show that it was leaning against something, meaning it couldn't have anything close to it show up after editing. As we were recording these scenes with all three of us in the same shot, it made us set the camera up in a peculiar way. As a result of this we had to rehearse and take the action shot in the same shot making sure as to not mess up the fragile position of the camera. After having these fully edited down we realized that Alex N could no longer be there for editing and I Also had to leave. We got most of the editing done and are excited to finish the editing the next time we are all capable of doing so, thank you for reading and we will see you all very soon.
