First filming day
Hello welcome back to my blog, today was our first day filming as a group. We set the location of filming to my house and set the time for everyone to be there at eleven in the morning. When we met up, we decided to start with the title screen and go from there. The title screen included a car pulling into the driveway and us getting out. So, we started with Alex N, the only one who could legally drive, and Myself in the front seat of the car while we had Nathanial in in my driveway filming us pull into the driveway. We parked the car down the street and drove into the camera. After this we filmed a montage like pan view of our surrounding are in order to also us this in the title screen before the car pulled into the driveway. We decided to add a few more scenes for our title screen to ensure we had enough while editing. As a result, the next thing we filmed was a low angle shot of our legs getting out of the car after it was parked in the driveway. We then decided to begin rehearsing our lines from our script of the first scene of us talking. This scene included us entering the house after getting out of the car and would no longer be a part of the title screen. We would be entering the house as a little group one by one after Alex N unlocked the door. Though this was where the first challenge came into play. Due to all three of us needing to be in the shot we had nobody to hold the camera to film considering the shot had to be an eye level. To counter this issue, we employed the use of a garbage can and a brick to hold the phone up flat that we were recording with. After this scene we decided employ the use of our first prop that we had prepared for filming. We decided to use the game Monopoly to show scene in the living room of us playing a board game. This scene also proposed it challenges as it required us to set up a camera at a lower eye level as we would be sitting on the floor in it. To solve this, we decided to put our recording phone in-between the top and bottom of the opening to the case, while having that lay on a solid white box, which was all located onto of a chair. In order to reframe from messing upon the shot, we pressed play on the video and did a small amount of rehearsing as well as the live action play within the same camera scene. We decided that we would use our editing software to edit the length of the video and cut the rehearsing parts out. With this it was all we had time for before we had to all separate due to plans, but at this point had about half of our movie done and would finish filming next time, thank you for reading.
